If you are wearing any hair extensions, you will not be able to have the headspa treatment as they do not allow full access to the scalp.
If you have had your hair coloured or a keratin treatment, then it is advised to wait at least a week after either of these treatments before you have a headspa treatment and vice versa.
If you are pregnant, you will not be able to have a headspa treatment until after delivery. This is due to having to lay on your back for a long period of time.
If you have had recent surgery on your head, neck, or spine, then it is best to wait until you are fully recovered. This is because you will be laying on your back for a long period of time. The Japanese Headspa also involves massage to the neck, shoulders, and top of your spine.
If you have any open wounds or sores, the treatment could aggravate this, and it would be best to wait until they have healed.
Individuals with uncontrolled blood pressure should avoid the treatment as the massage techniques could exacerbate the condition.
If you have epilepsy, then a doctor’s note will be required.
If you have recently had a hair transplant, then you will be required to wait 3 months for treatment and will need approval from your consultant.
This treatment can be great for scalp conditions; however, it is best to treat during symptom-free periods.
The treatment can be great for helping to ease migraines; however, the scalp massage and water therapy could trigger migraine symptoms if prone to migraines and vertigo.
If you have a blood disorder or are taking any coagulants, then you will need to consult your doctor.
If you have a heart condition, you will need to provide a doctor’s note. Whilst these treatments are relaxing and the focus is scalp health, it involves massage and pressure point techniques that could be a risk to those with a heart condition.
If you have cancer or are having cancer treatment, you will be asked to have a doctor’s note to give you approval for this treatment.
